I study in Police Technology, to become a police officer. Teachers, in three years, teaches us everything we need to know about the job of a police officer and all useful methods of intervention for situations that will happen to us later during our shifts. In our courses, we learn the laws of Canadian Criminal Code, Civil Code, the youth protection act, and many other yet.
A police officer, in the province of Quebec, is a person has the duty to enforce laws, arrest offenders, help citizen, maintain order, ensure public safety and investigate crimes. So, I choose this article below, because he explained how the shifts could be different from one day to another.
At the beginning of the article, we can understand the beginning of the shift that begins with waking of the morning or nap, according on which shift we are. After that, it's time to be ready psychologically for the upcoming shift and to put on our bulletproof vests to become in mode of police officer.
The first citizen that is intercepted at the beginning of the shift received just a warning for a defective headlight. After that, it's time to go on the police car, and there is a call for a road accident that is heard on police radio that the dispatcher assigned. In this accident, someone was killed, so it's time to announce the death to the family, when the homicide investigation team had arrived on the scene.
Following this event, it's time for a coffee. However, the officer will never have his coffee, because he must intervene with teens that cause trouble in the station. After leaving the station, the officer have time to do its daily reports, so he goes at some place that citizen can see the officer if they have something that they want to ask. What had to happen happened, a woman comes and tell that she scared, because she thinks that someone does break-in at her house. Arrived at the home, the officer entered with his gun and search if someone is in the women home's. The officer secure the scene and take the declaration of the woman before going.
The shift of the officer are supposed finished in 15 minutes, but an officer never end a shift in time! This time, it's for arresting a driver that have consummated. Fortunately, after this arrest and fulfill reports, it's finally time to back home. What's nice is that next day will be totally different!
